3 things we wish people knew about hosting an event

Four hours before her daughter’s backyard birthday party, Lisa was knee-deep in crepe paper, icing smudges on her jeans, and a playlist that wouldn’t sync with the Bluetooth speaker. The cake hadn’t been picked up, the tables were still in the garage, and her husband was wandering the house looking for a lighter. When guests arrived, she still hadn’t changed. She smiled through it all, but by the time the piñata swung, Lisa was flat-out exhausted and barely remembered the day.

We meet so many Lisas. Lovely people with beautiful visions, big hearts, and the best intentions, but no idea how much work it is to host an event and actually enjoy it too.

If you’re planning something special, here are three things we really wish more people knew about hosting an event.

1. You don’t have to DIY

Pinterest is inspiring, but it doesn’t come with an execution and cleanup crew. We see this all the time: someone finds a dreamy idea board online and thinks, “I can totally do this myself”, often with the intention of saving money.

DIY may seem easy and cost-effective… until you’re up at 1am hand-tying ribbons or trying to figure out why the fairy lights won’t work. Then there’s the setup, the coordination, the timing, the food, the rentals, the guests asking where the bathroom is while you’re elbow-deep in canapé prep. And by the time you’ve bought everything yourself, the perceived savings often disappear. Sometimes, hiring a planner or coordinator saves you stress and money.

Ask yourself: Would you rather be arranging chairs or sipping prosecco while someone else does it?

2. Amazing doesn’t have to mean expensive

One of the biggest myths about hosting an event is that you need a massive budget to throw a memorable function. But the truth is that you don’t need a five-tier cake or a 10-piece band to wow your guests. What people remember are the thoughtful touches: the warm lighting, the perfectly timed playlist, the comfort, the mood, and the people.

Hiring a planner or coordinator to bring it all together doesn’t mean blowing the budget. In fact, it often saves money because we know what works, and what’s a waste. We’ve built trusted relationships with vendors, we’ve got access to resources you won’t find in a DIY run to the craft store, and we can help you focus your budget where it really counts.

3. You deserve to enjoy your own event

We’ve left the most important one for last. So often, the host is the last person to sit down, the last to eat, and the first to stress. You miss the little moments because you’re making sure the candles are lit, the drinks are refilled, or the cousin with dietary restrictions got the right plate.

We believe that the host should be having just as much fun as the guests (if not more!). That’s the whole point, isn’t it? You planned this gathering to celebrate something, or someone, so you deserve to be part of it, not running it from behind the scenes.

Our clients tell us all the time, “I actually got to enjoy my own event”. And that’s everything we stand for. When you let go of the logistics, the timelines, the last-minute runs to the shop, you make room for joy, laughter, and memories.

Hosting an event doesn’t have to be hard

We don’t believe in cookie-cutter parties or budget-busting price tags. We believe in thoughtful, enchanting, stress-free gatherings that reflect your style, your story, and your reason to celebrate.

Whether you’re hosting 10 people or 100, we’re here to help you do it with heart, and without the headache. Sure, you can do it all yourself, but you don’t have to. Let us handle the mess so you can enjoy the moment.
